On Wednesday evening's episode of "The Colbert Report" (March 26), host Stephen Colbert humorously mocked Washington Redskins owner, Dan Snyder. Watch the "Sport Report" clip below:

The late night host basically bashed Snyder's plan to establish the Washington Redskins "Original Americans Foundation" in response to continued controversy surrounding the racisim associated with his team's official name. As Gossip Cop points out, Colbert then "references his own caricature of Asian stereotypes in a previous segment, and jokingly talks about starting 'The Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever.'"

Following the comedic bit, Colbert's official Comedy Central Twitter accounted posted this rather controversial tweet:

@ColbertReport: “I am willing to show #Asian community I care by introducing the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever."

Several fans found the tweet racial offensive rather than jokingly funny - the whole thing was blown out of context. So on Thursday, the hashtag #CancelColbert began trending on the popular social networking site. Eventually, Colbert had to respond from his own personal account:

@StephenAtHome: "#CancelColbert - I agree! Just saw @ColbertReport tweet. I share your rage. Who is that, though? I'm @StephenAtHome."

Comedy Central also tweeted:

@ColbertReport: "For the record @ColbertReport is not controlled by Stephen Colbert or his show. He is @StephenAtHome Sorry for the confusion #CancelColbert."

The originial post was deleted and replaced with:

@ColbertReport: "This is a Comedy Central account, with no oversight from Stephen/show. Here is quoted line in context (https://on.cc.com/1dyeQri) #cancelcolbert."

So Colbert was not in anyway involved with the controversial tweet. Were Mstars fans offended by the "Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation" reference?
