'Star Wars 7' Casting News, Rumors: 'Breaking Bad' actor Jesse Plemons cast in 'Black Mass,' out of 2015's 'Episode VII'?

Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons (creepy Todd) was one of the few actors that made the short list of the Star Wars: Episode VII casting speculations after many other rumors were dismissed and disproved. But now the young actor has signed on to a new film, Black Mass, thus making it unlikely that he'll be in J.J. Abrams' 2015 blockbuster.

Black Mass is scheduled to start filming in May of 2014, which we all know is when Episode VII will begin shooting as well. So it looks like Plemons is out of the trilogy, unless we hear otherwise. We're not holding our breath, basically.

So he may be out of the running for one of the most anticipated movies of the last few years, but Black Mass is definitely not a film to ignore. This Scott Cooper film stars Johnny Depp and is a biopic of gangster Whitey Bugler. It also stars Juno Temple, who is expected to portray a prostitute. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Plemons will play Kevin Weeks, "a blue-collar tough guy who is part of Whitey's inner circle."

Here is a synopsis of the new movie:

Black Mass follows Bulger (Depp) as he uses his status as an FBI informant to climb the ranks of the Boston crime scene. Meanwhile, his FBI handler John J. Connolly Jr. (Joel Edgerton) gets to use the information fed to him by Bugler for his own professional gain. But the situation doesn't last. A corruption investigation eventually brings down Connolly, and Bugler goes on the run to escape arrest.
