Katy Perry's New Single RUMORS: Click to See the Cover Artwork Inside! [PHOTO]
Katy Perry took to Twitter to reveal the name and the cover artwork for her next single. Posting the following picture with the caption:
"In honor of #TBT may I present the cover my my NEXXXT single, Birthday."
The cover show her and her sister Angelica Hudson with her sister's face blurred out. She then went on to tweet that "IF you would like to see my sisters amazing face/pose get #BIRTHDAY trending to the top & I will UNLOCK the genius with you... Hahahahahaha"
It seems like she got her 'Birthday' wish because she got the single title trending on Twitter and posted the unblurred image.
Birthday, which is set to be the fourth single off of Katy's album 'Prism,' will be released just in time to be the song of the summer for 2014. For this single, Katy reunited with the creative team behind her number one single 'Roar.' Bonnie McKee, Max Martin, and Lukasz Gottwald share co-writing credits with Perry herself and the track was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Cirkut, also the producers for 'Roar' and most of song on her 'Prism' album.
This song returns Katy to her typical tongue and cheek phrases, double entendres, and euphemism. Critics generally have praised the track, liking its fun sound and musical composition. The track has succeeded in entering the singles charts in both South Korea as well as Japan simply based on strong digital sales.
During her 'Prism' preview event this past September in Los Angeles, Katy got the chance to showcase all the songs from 'Prism' for journalists, radio programmers, and industry exes. Here she described the track as an upbeat Prince-like pop-funk workout that is a nod to music duo, Wendy and Lisa, who worked closely with Prince.
When asked about the sexual nature of the song Katy said, "I was so ashamed of myself. [But] It wouldn't be a Katy Perry record without one innuendo or two."
Could this song be Perry's third number one off of 'Prism' and her tenth number one single in total? We will have to wait a few weeks to see.
