WWE Spoilers: Undertaker reportedly offered Brock Lesnar to beat the streak in 2010
The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar will square off on Sunday at WrestleMania 30 as Taker puts his undefeated, 21-win streak at the Showcase of Immortals on the line. But according to a new report, the streak could have ended a few years ago.
The Wrestling Observer (via Cageside Seats) reports that the backstage reaction to the build for this year's Taker vs. Lesnar match has not been positive because those involved feel that Lesnar has not been booked strongly enough:
"Virtually everyone involved in the Undertaker/Lesnar scenario believed that Lesnar should have been booked differently and more of a threat to Undertaker, since the only point Lesnar did anything was the go-home angle and that was still a sneak up from behind distraction with the announcers calling Lesnar a coward. In the original deal when this was first talked about in 2010, Undertaker had actually proposed that Lesnar beat him to end the streak (it was never seriously considered) thinking it would be the right thing for business, but that's years ago."
This likely means nothing for Sunday, but it's at least interesting to note the remote possibility from several years ago.
In other news, The Wrestling Observer reports WWE reached out to The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Roddy Piper and Jim Ross about participating in WrestleMania 30 in some capacity. The site reports that WWE believes The Rock could appear at Mania either live or via a taped appearance. Stone Cold has also said on his podcast that he will be in New Orleans to watch the Hall of Fame ceremony, so we know he will be involved at least in that capacity.
