Clint Dempsey is one of America's most famous soccer players, and he continues to increase his reputation through yet more unlikely heroics. He hasn't been in his best form since returning to Major League Soccer, but but he has now scored four goals in three games to start the new season, and in their latest match, he scored a hat-trick to ensure the Seattle Sounders got a 4-4 draw against their rivals, the Portland Timbers.

Dempsey seems to of taken confidence from the game, too, saying " It always feels good to score goals. [It's] a little bit sweeter against your rivals, but the most important things is points ... we need to make sure that we push up the table." Dempsey then explained that he's not trying to prove anybody wrong, saying "I'm not really trying to make a statement, I'm just trying to enjoy playing my ball here with the Seattle Sounders." It seems Dempsey is finally both happy and confident, and that's a scary proposition for MLS teams.

The game seen both teams share four goals in the first 24 minutes and the game settled before its dramatic end. Dempsey scored in the 85th and 87th minute, ensuring the likely loss became a valuable point for the Sounders.

It seems the Clint Dempsey of old is back, but can he fire the Sounders to glory, or will they simply make up the numbers this season? One thing is for sure, the Sounders will dislike Dempsey more than ever, as he continues to make the impossible happen.
