Any fan of the MLB knows that a series between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox is usually one full of everything you could imagine. This one hasn't been any different, and in Saturday's encounter the New York Yankees blasted five home runs, leading to their 7-4 victory. It seems like both teams are heading towards a competitive season, and both couldn't be in better shape.

Brian McCann hit two home runs, ending his early season slump, and leading his team to victory over John Lackey. Home runs from Carlos Beltran, Alfonso Soriano and Kelly Johnson added to a glorious day for the Yankees. McCann explained his success, saying " I've been seeing the ball pretty well to be hitting in the hundreds,".

Yankees manager Joe Girardi was in good spirits, saying " He's hit the ball better than his numbers indicated," He continued saying "I was not really concerned about it. I know he's going to hit,". It seems coach Girardi rightfully believes in his players through the good and the bad, and McCann certainly started to repay his faith with his game-changing performance. Can McCann continue his efforts from this game, or was it a one off?

With the Yankees and the Red Sox top favourites to dominate baseball this season, one can wonder, who will win the majority of their battles against one another this season, and could one of them become World Series winners at the seasons end, or will they fall short this season?
