A brand new clip from the Michael Bay-produced 2014 blockbuster movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this week released a first look at one of the most important characters of the film: Splinter! Though fans weren't too happy with how the actual Turtles turned out, let's see how the new film reboot handled the heroes' master.

"You live, you die, you fight as brothers. Remember nothing is as strong as family," we hear the mentor and father figure say to the group of heroes.

As you can see from the clip, Splinter definitely looks like a rat. Other versions of the character were definitely different, but this time around we should expect some more fan reactions just as the actual Turtles.

Here is a synopsis for this new take on the iconic franchise:

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits theaters August 8. This movie also stars Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson, Danny Woodburn, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, and Whoopi Goldberg.
