Could Black Cat be part of the Sinister Six movie?

Fans of The Amazing Spider-Man film franchise know that two spinoff movies, Venom and Sinister Six, are in the works. The latter film is perhaps the more interesting one because it would focus on a group of villains rather than a single hero or even a single villain.

Since the announcement, fans have been filling out the Sinister Six roster with as many permutations as one could count, as Spider-Man has no shortage of enemies from which to select. But longtime Spidey producer Matt Tolmach made some interesting comments to Moviepilot that could indicate a female member could join the Sinister Six.

The likely candidate in this case is the Black Cat. For starters, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-stars the up-and-coming actress Felicity Jones in a mystery role that has received very little attention in the marketing of the movie. The IMDb page for the sequel lists her as Felicia, and Felicia Hardy is the Black Cat's alias. The actress and director Marc Webb have also played coy about the identity of the character in TASM2.

It's possible the studio cast Jones with a larger role in mind, as she has certainly been on the rise and would be a valuable talent to have on the roster. Plus, a female villain would shake up the supervillain team a bit and subvert the expectations of fans who anticipate the classic lineup for the movie.
