Helloooooo 'Mrs Doubtfire' Sequel is Coming- Robin Williams Set to Reprise His Role.
Somebody needs to call Miranda Hillard and let her know that Euphegenia Doubtfire is on her way.
Everybody's favorite cross-dressing nanny is making her return to the big screen in a new sequel to the 1993 movie, Mrs. Doubtfire. The original film went on to earn $222 million at the box office and also earned star, Robin William's, a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the fun loving dad turned cross-dressing housekeeper. Williams, is thankfully, set to reprise his role in the sequel and we couldn't be happier. We wouldn't be able to watch someone else try to shimmy into Doubtfire's panty-hos.
Chris Columbus, will be back in the director's chair along with newcomer David Berenbaum, who will write the screenplay. Berenbaum is the writer behind the 2005 comedy Elf.
As of right now, fellow cast members including Sally Fields, Pierce Brosnan, Lisa Jakub, and Matthew Lawrence haven't commented if they'll make their way back for the sequel, but one star has made it crystal clear that she wants no part of the upcoming sequel.
Mara Wilson, who starred in the original movie as youngest daughter Natalie, took to Twitter once the news of the film broke, to address rumors of her possible return for this sequel.
"I've been in some mediocre movies, but I've never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now," Mara tweets.
Oh shoot!!! All we know is she better not be talking about Matilda when she refers to being in mediocre movies.
Wilson goes on to tweet, "Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to."
I might just be speaking for myself but I think the world would be a happier place with more Doubtfire. What do you think?
Here's a trailer for the first film, just in case anyone wanted to relive their childhood with us.
