Game of Thrones Season 4 Spoilers: Theon Greyjoy's Journey 'Gets Dark'
Theon Greyjoy went from a womanizing, cocky man to a literally neutered and submissive slave on HBO's Game of Thrones. Season 3 featured plenty of physical torture for the character, but Season 4 will contain more mental anguish, according to portrayer Alfie Allen.
The actor spoke to EW.com and previewed the rest of Theon's arc for the rest of Season 4:
"It gets dark. I don't think people will find it as hard to watch this year. It depends what kind of person you are. It's more of a mental torture than it is physical. It's daunting as an actor. I have to do more telling of the story with my eyes than with words. I've never really done that type before."
Allen added he doesn't have to scream as much this season, but "there is some hoarse-throat moments for me, so look forward to that." He also said that many fans would comment to him how hard it was to watch Theon's torture last season, which he took as a compliment as an actor.
Finally, Allen talks about what he wants for his character in the future.
"So since you haven't read the books, it's fair game to ask: What's the fate you would want for your character, who's done evil things yet also suffered so much?
Whatever Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff] are willing to give me. In my mind, anything goes. I'll just wait and see. People who get brought down to earth tend to get humbled, so maybe for us to see more evidence of that would be great."
