White House Responds to Justin Bieber Deportation Petition. Is the Troubled Star Headed Back To Canada?
Well it looks like Justin Bieber won't be deported anytime soon.
The White House has responded in a roundabout way to the petition that has been gaining attention since January. The "We the People," petition was aiming to get the troubled star kicked out of the United States and sent back to his homeland of Canada. It has gained 273,968 signatures, more than what is needed to guarantee a response from the White House.
The following is the official statement that was issued by the White House in regards to the petition.
"The We the People terms of participation state that, 'to avoid the appearance of improper influence, the White House may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government in its response to a petition.' So we'll leave it to others to comment on Mr. Bieber's case, but we're glad you care about immigration issues. Because our current system is broken."
The White House added, "All around the world, people look at America as a place of opportunity. And with comprehensive, common-sense immigration reform, we can make sure it stays that way. Thanks for your petition."
Even though they couldn't address the Bieber issue specifically they did say "we hope you believe your We the People experience was a positive one."
The White House wasn't the only one to comment on Bieber's recent troubles. In an interview with Enrique Santo a radio host at Univision in February, Michelle Obama was asked what she would do if Justin Bieber was her son.
The loving mother of two replied that she "would pull him close. You know, I don't know if it would be [giving] advice as much as [taking] action. I would be very present in his life right now. And I would be probably with him a good chunk of the time, just there to talk, to figure out what's going on in his head, to figure out who's in his life and who's not, you know?"
Bieber tweeted on Sunday that "This is my time off but my mind is always running. Learned a lot this past year thru trial & error but that is life. Excited for what's next."
On the horizon for Biebers is his trail on May 5, after pleading not guilty to driving under the influence, driving without a valid license, and resisting arrest.
