What is happening in the music industry this month?

Lorde is the most recent celebrity that has had to cancel a string of shows due to an illness.

Following the lead of Miley Cyrus and Chance the Rapper, Lorde has cancelled eight of her upcoming shows in Melbourne, that were set to begin on April 24, due to a chest infection.

In a statement from the tour promoters, the doctors are quoted saying that Lorde needed to return to New Zealand "for immediate rest and recuperation in order to regain complete health and continue touring for the rest of the year."

Lorde told her fans in an announcement, "It breaks my heart to have to postpone these shows as the band and I absolutely love playing Australian crows, and it was not a decision we made lightly. I know I need to focus on getting better in order to perform at my best. We'll be with you as soon as we can, Aussies."

Current dates for the rescheduled shows are being agreed upon by organizers.

Lorde has been going nonstop since January where she performed at the Grammy's, embarked on a North American Tour and most recently played sets at Lollapalooza and Coachella.

Lorde tweeted to all her fans to update them on her health and why she made the decision to postpone the tour.

"In case you missed the announcement earlier, I have had to postpone my Australian show because of a nasty chest infection and general ill health. I am so so gutted to have to do this but my parents and my team stepped in telling me I needed a break after being non-stop since the Grammys in January. We will 100% be back for this tour (most likely in November) so don't worry about that. I just need time to get back to full Gollum girl fitness before I go out playing shows again. I'm truly sorry if I let you down or if you feel inconvenienced by this I hope you can understand."
