The young and talented Washington Wizards take 2-0 series lead over Chicago Bulls
Not many fans, critics or anybody involved with the NBA expected the Washington Wizards to put up much of a fight against the Chicago Bulls, but so far they've been the only ones throwing the punches, as they look for the series' knockout blow. After rallying to win game 1, they were hoping to stay closer in the second, but it was yet another late comeback that forced overtime, and allowed them to edge the Bulls, 101-00, meaning the Wizards have full control over the series as they welcome the Bulls to Washington on Friday night for game 3.
The Wizards epitomize the basis of sticking with your young, talented players, and building year after year through the draft. It's finally paying off for them. The Bulls, who are often defensively sound and considered a tough, calm team, have seemed anything but that. The Wizards have looked like the team with an abundance of playoff experience, although they have little.
With many saying the Eastern Conference will be an easy ride for the defending champions, the Miami Heat, perhaps this young, hungry bunch of Wizards will prove otherwise. If the Heat have to face these in form players, they might not have the hunger and desire, although they have the ability to win at ease.
The way the Wizards have come up from the shadows of the NBA's nothingness, you can bet teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons will be thinking they can continue to build, and copy the Wizards' success. Is the NBA Draft the way forward, and should teams use the Wizards as a perfect example of how a team can go from the bottom of the NBA, to a solid playoff team full of potential?
