It looks like How I Met You Mother spin-off finally found its future mother.

Meg Ryan is set to join the cast as the narrator for the new CBS series How I Met You Dad. She will star as the future version of main character Sally played by actress Greta Gerwig. Ryan will star in a similar position to that which Bob Saget had in the original series. Saget played the future version of main character Ted, who viewers never saw but could tell it was Saget by his trademark voice. Ryan, like Saget, has a signature voice that viewers will immediately recognize as hers.

This isn't the first time that Ryan will be working as a voiceover actress; she also starred in the Fox animated hit, Anastasia, where she played the title role. She has often been considered to be the pioneer of the modern day romantic comedy having starred in the classic rom-coms When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, and City of Angels. This will be Ryan's first major primetime TV role as a series regular, although she has been featured in episodes of The Simpsons, and Web Therapy.

The show hast yet to be picked up for a series order by CBS but it seems more than likely with an already established fan base from the original series and with all the buzz and rumors that have been surrounding the spin-off.

The series finale of How I Met Your Mother drew a record breaking series high of 13.3 million viewers during its original broadcast.
