From ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ – Marvel Comics Launches ‘Legendary Star-Lord’ Solo Series!
The Guardians of the Galaxy travel across outer-space, encountering dangerous alien life-forms who want to invade Earth. Before the sci-fi summer blockbuster hits theaters, audiences will get to know the team leader of the Guardians in Legendry Star-Lord.
MTV got the scoop on the new Marvel Comics series starring the team leader of Guardians of the Galaxy. The Legendary Star-Lord comic comes from writer Sam Humphries and artist Paco Medina. The comic is close in tone to a Western as Humphries states, "It's about con jobs, chasing the gold, and settling old scores."
In the Marvel Universe, Peter Quill was just a baby when his alien father abandoned his earth mother. After his mother was murdered by extraterrestrials, Peter dedicated his life to travel into outer-space. While traveling from planet to planet, he adopted the name, "Star-Lord," to anger his father and formed the Guardians to protect Earth from danger.
In the MTV interview, Humphries explains how Quill perceives himself as a rebel and ladies' man, "Peter sees himself as a legend because he can fly fast, and shoot fast, and flirt fast. But what really makes someone a legend are things buried in yourself that you didn't know you had."

Humphries discusses how his series will connect with what's going on in the current Guardians of the Galaxy comic, "The situation with Peter and Jason is about to come to a head in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' book. Brian [Michael Bendis] is taking Peter right up to the ledge, with a really interesting and compelling character decision for him. What happens to Peter and his father reverberates in his solo book."
