Don’t Look Away! FX Presents Eye-Popping Poster From Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘The Strain!’
Guaranteed to catch your eye, FX has released a poster for their upcoming vampire series. Based on the best-selling novels from visionary director Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim) and author Chuck Hogan (The Town), vampires are on the rise and spreading like a disease in The Strain.
Entertainment Weekly got an inside look at the poster from the upcoming vampire/drama series. A rubber-gloved hand is forcing an eyelid to open. The eyeball is looking straight up at the eclipse. In a gross-out move, a squiggly worm is sinking into the person's eye.
The poster has a strong influence from the novels and comic books. Vampirism is a parasitic virus that infects and transforms the original host. Without spoiling anything, the eclipse is quite essential to the plot.
The Strain centers on Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team of scientists as they try to find a cure for the growing vampire plague. An ancient evil, known only as The Master, has suddenly resurfaced and arrived in New York City. The Master will spread his reign of terror unless Goodweather and his team can stop him. Once New York is finally gone, so is the rest of the world.

As reported here, Dark Horse Comics has adapted The Strain into the comic book medium. The poster certainly takes a page from The Strain comics:
