Extreme Rules 2014 Results: Daniel Bryan beats Kane and The Shield conquers Evolution
The 2014 edition of WWE's Extreme Rules emanates live from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J. and opens with the pre-show "WeeLC" match between El Torito and Hornswoggle. El Torito picks up the win when he leaps off the top rope and puts Hornswoggle through a table.
The first match of the official show is the Triple Threat elimination match between Cesaro (w/Paul Heyman), Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter) and Rob Van Dam. RVD eliminates Swagger with the Five Star Frog Splash, but Cesaro later earns the win when he hits the Neutralizer on RVD onto a trashcan.
A trainer checks out Daniel Bryan backstage when Stephanie McMahon comes in to see him. Bryan asks what she wants and Stephanie says she cannot control Kane and worries what he will do in the match tonight. She suggests he surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but Bryan tells her to get out of his face. He says he walked in as champion and he will walk out as champion, but Stephanie says he will walk out as Kane's bitch.
Alexander Rusev (w/Lana) squashes R-Truth and Xavier Woods when he makes Truth tap out to the Accolade.
Wade Barrett becomes the new Intercontinental Champion when he counters Big E.'s Big Ending and hits him with the Bullhammer.
The Shield defeats Evolution in what is easily the match of the night. The finish features Triple H, Randy Orton, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins brawling in the crowd. Rollins dives off a balcony and takes out his opponents, while Roman Reigns counters a Batista Bomb attempt back in the ring into a Superman Punch and a spear for the win.
Bray Wyatt beats John Cena in a steel cage match even though Cena took out all three members of the Wyatt Family. As he heads to the cage door to escape, the lights go out and a child in a black robe appears at the door singing "He's Got the Whole World" with a distorted voice. Bray uses the distraction to hit Sister Abigail and escape the cage.
Paige retains the Divas Championship when she gets Tamina Snuka to tap out to the Scorpion Cross Lock.
Bray Wyatt appears backstage and says the child, Little Johnny, is now free to spread their message because they beat Cena. He says they can now spread the truth and hands the child a sheep mask. He says "follow the buzzards" with the same distorted voice and puts on the mask.
Daniel Bryan retains his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Kane when the latter lights a table on fire and tries to put Bryan through it, but the champion counters and sends his former partner through it. Officials quickly put Kane out with a fire extinguisher, and Bryan hits him with the running knee for the win.
