Matt Damon 'open' to new 'Bourne' movie if director Paul Greengrass is involved
In a new interview, actor Matt Damon this week revealed that his Jason Bourne character is one he's "open" to revisiting. There is a catch, however: he wants the reluctant Paul Greengrass on board, too. Do you think we'll be seeing another Bourne film with Damon any time soon?
"I've always been open to it if Paul Greengrass is the director. We've just never been able to come up with a story," he told CNBC. "So if any of your viewers have a story, please call Universal and submit it."
He added: "It felt like such a good way to end it the last time. But having said that, I love that character and I'd love to see what happened to him."
Unfortunately, Greengrass has expressed his feeling on returning to the franchise and Damon probably isn't too happy with his statement.
"I discovered in my heart I didn't have another one in me," he explained to Deadline in December of 2013. "The best thing was to move on, have someone else come in and make their mark on it."
So it looks like the triumphant return of Damon to the Bourne series might not happen, unless he's willing to work with another director. Do you think it will come together or are you hoping Damon stays away from the series? Let us know in the comments section below!
Luckily, Jason Bourne's replacement, Aaron Cross, is set to return to the big screen on August 14, 2015, with Jeremy Renner reprising the role.
