Emma Stone talks Gwen Stacy's future in The Amazing Spider-Man film series

Fans who saw The Amazing Spider-Man 2 know that the film went where plenty of fans expected it to go and killed off Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) in the climactic battle sequence at the clock tower. But this is a comic book movie, after all, so is Stone truly finished with this film series?
The actress spoke to Screen Rant and talked about filming the emotional scene with boyfriend Andrew Garfield and Green Goblin actor Dane DeHaan:
"Stone: So I had to do the death scene and my last day actually on the movie was Dane holding me as the Goblin about to drop me. So that was probably the most emotional part. Just because it was - I was about to fall and I also knew it was my last day and my last time working with these people...

Stone: I don't know...is it?
Screen Rant: Is it?
Stone: There could be a...I don't know. There's a whole plotline that could happen that may bring her back."
Stone is almost certainly referring to the numerous Gwen Stacy resurrections in the comic books, usually as a clone. Professor Miles Warren, aka the Jackal, created numerous clones, including Gwen, to make Spider-Man's life miserable. And let's not forget that Denis Leary returned as the deceased Captain Stacy in TASM2 to haunt Peter as a vision.
