Bryan Singer discusses more mutants for X-Men Apocalypse
Early reviews of X-Men: Days of Future past have been extremely positive, with many reviewers calling it the best of the film series and on par with the best of the recent crop of superhero movies. The film releases on May 23, but fans are already looking ahead somewhat to its sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse, in 2016.
Director Bryan Singer spoke to SciFi Now and talked about his focus for Apocalypse:
"My next goal is how did the X-Men come together? That story hasn't been told yet, so [Days of Future Past] is the inbetweenquel. It's in between the birth of that relationship with Charles and Erik and the formation of the X-Men."
SciFi Now asked if this time period would allow Cyclops, Jean Grey (both of whom died in X-Men: The Last Stand) and Storm to return in younger incarnations.
"Yeah, exactly," the director replied.
Writer/producer Simon Kinberg also discussed the makeup of the mutant roster for sequels after Days of Future Past:
"In a way, it feels like from this point forward we can do whatever we want, but we'll be moving forward with some of the actors from the First Class/Days of Future Past cast, so there's stuff we've done in these last couple of movies that we'll definitely continue doing for them, at least in Apocalypse, if not more movies going forward."
