BOOM! Studios Revives John Carpenter’s ‘Big Trouble In Little China’ with Eric Powell & Brian Churilla! Covers by Joe Quinones, Chris Weston, Terry Dodson, Emi Yonemura Brown!
Jack Burton, played by actor Kurt Russell (Escape From New York) makes his way from the big screen into the comic book world. BOOM! Studios continues the kung-fu/supernatural action in the ongoing series, Big Trouble In Little China.
Eric Powell (The Goon) and Brian Churilla (The Sixth Gun: Sons of the Gun) have teamed up to continue Jack's macho adventures. The film's original director, John Carpenter, will also be working alongside the creators to bring that over-the-top spirit to the comic. The first installment takes place after Jack rescues his friend's green-eyed fiancée from the ancient sorcerer Lo Pan.
Plot Synopsis:
Jack Burton, a macho, truck-driving adventurer, finds a stowaway hiding on his rig, The Pork Chop Express, but that soon becomes the least of his troubles. He helped his best friend Wang save his fiancée from the clutches of a demon, but now the wedding has been invaded by more evil forces with one thing on their minds-revenge against Jack Burton!
BOOM! Studios Editor-In-Chief Matt Gagnon explains his enthusiasm for John Carpenter's cult classic, "It's already been a rewarding journey bringing ol' Jack Burton back for new adventures and we're just barely getting started. I have fond memories of watching Big Trouble In Little China, cracking up at Jack Burton and his plight. I always thought there were so many more stories to tell with that character and the world he inhabits. So putting together the amazing team of Eric and Brian for this series, along with the guidance of John Carpenter, has been a dream come true. Now everybody can truly relax. Jack's here."
The main cover will be illustrated by Eric Powell. The incentive covers for issues #1-#4 by Joe Quinones will connect as one big picture. The Invisibles artist Chris Weston and X-Men's Terry Dodson have variant covers available in limited quantities. Emi Yonemura Brown's ultra-limited variant will feature Jack's iconic tank top.
