Creative Assembly Shows How They Are ‘Creating The Cast’ In This Behind-The Scenes Clip For ‘Alien: Isolation!’ [Watch Video]
Based on director Ridley Scott's sci-fi/horror classic, Alien: Isolation follows Amanda Ripley as she tries to figure out what happened aboard the Nostromo spaceship. The Creative Assembly discusses how they used motion capture to deliver the dread and emotion behind the videogame.
Jude Bond, art lead, explains how motion capturing became involved, "In order to tell the story, we needed our characters to be believable. So we took the decision to cast real people. We worked in a company in Sheffield to capture the digital likeness of our cast. We wanted a higher level of fidelity as possible. We wanted the characters you meet to look and feel real."
In the video, watch how the game developers take references of the actress playing Amanda, Ripley's daughter. Each facial expression has to be different and captured in detail for the game. You watching in each stage how the character reacts when she is crying or in a state of fear.
Al Hope, creative lead, discusses how the original source material was closely followed, "Much like the original film, this is a credible world filled with believable characters, characters we want to care about."
