Monday Night Raw 5/12/14 Preview: Payback build continues with Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt, The Shield and more
The May 12, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw will emanate live from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C. at 8 p.m. Eastern and will continue to build toward the Payback pay-per-view on Sunday, June 1. Daniel Bryan, Kane, The Shield, Evolution, Bray Wyatt, John Cena and more will all be on hand.
As of this writing, it seems as though Payback will feature the same three main event matches as Extreme Rules: Bryan vs. Kane, Shield vs. Evolution and Cena vs. Wyatt. But the stipulations for those matches could be different than they were at the previous pay-per-view, and tonight's Raw could give an indication of where WWE wants to go with these stories.
Last week, Kane terrorized Bryan and Brie throughout the arena and assaulted them in the parking lot until the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and his wife managed to get away. What will the Devil's Favorite Demon do next to torment Bryan and his bride? Rumors hold that Bryan and Kane would face off in a Buried Alive match for the title at Payback because this type of match would end the feud and also write Kane off WWE television so he can promote See No Evil 2. If a giant mound of dirt or a grave shows up on Raw tonight, we'll know why.
Triple H and Evolution got the upper hand on The Shield last week when the COO booked Dean Ambrose in a 20-man over the top rope battle royal for his United States Championship. Ambrose lost the title to Sheamus at the very end, and Evolution later cost The Shield their match with The Wyatt Family in the main event. Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista then beat down the Hounds of Justice until Roman Reigns was coughing up blood. How will The Shield retaliate tonight? Will we get any indication about the match at Payback, or will it be another straight six-man tag?
Bray Wyatt cut a promo last week touting his victory over Cena at Extreme Rules and promising to burn down the world and recreate it in his image. Cena responded on Main Event by saying he knows now he can't stop people from joining Wyatt's side, but he will never give up until the very end. Which side will gain the upper hand in this ongoing war tonight? And what sort of fight will these two have at Payback?
As always, check back with MStars immediately after the show for a full recap of all the action but for now, let us know what you expect to happen on tonight's Raw in the comments below.
