WWE Spoilers: Latest news on Daniel Bryan's injury and WWE World Heavyweight Championship

As fans learned on this week's edition of Monday Night Raw, Daniel Bryan has a legitimate neck injury that requires surgery, which he will have on Thursday. WWE played this up for dramatic effect when Kane dragged Bryan's limp body onto the stage and EMTs took him away in an ambulance.

The Wrestling Observer reports WWE officials are concerned the surgery could reveal larger issues with the injury, but more information will not become available until Bryan undergoes surgery on Thursday. The current expectation is that the WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be out for six to eight weeks and WWE hopes he will return in time for the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on June 29 in Boston.

PWInsider.com, meanwhile, reports Bryan has a broken neck, but the break is minor and does not require a fusion that several other wrestlers (such as Stone Cold Steve Austin) have had in the past. The injury is reportedly not from one move, but is due to an accumulation of damage from his work style in the ring.

The site also reports if Bryan is out six to eight weeks, then WWE could have Bryan return at SummerSlam in August. If the surgery yields a negative report or if Bryan has to take more time off than expected, then WWE could strip him of the title and create a way to crown a new champion.

No plans for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship have been confirmed yet.
