Archaia, an imprint of BOOM! Studios, proudly announces their second in a planned series of three hardcovers that reprint the prose novel adaptations of fan-favorite Henson properties. Get ready for the June debut of Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal: The Novelization.

In the late '80s, Jim Henson and Frank Oz directed the cult classic, The Dark Crystal. The story revolves around an elflike Gelfling named Jen. In a race against the Skeksis, Jen has to restore balance to his alien world by returning a lost shard to a powerful but broken gem. The Dark Crystal was first met with mixed response because the film's themes was darker than Henson's previous materials. Over the years, the film has since become a major favorite among Henson's fans.

Archaia started publishing original comic books and graphic novels based on The Jim Henson Company's most popular titles. Since 2010, Archaia started with the Fraggle Rock comic book series, and has continued with new projects. The result of Archaia's relationship with the Jim Henson Company is the Eisner Award-winning Jim Henson's Tale of the Sand. Artist Ramón Pérez illustrated the graphic novel based on the lost screenplay by Jim Henson and Jerry Juhl.

For Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal Novelization, Archaia will reprint the long-out-of-print prose novel written by author and playwright A.C.H. Smith, which was overseen by Henson himself. For the first time in hardcover, the book will feature never-before-seen illustrations and concept designs by legendary illustrator and concept artist Brian Froud (The Goblins of Labyrinth, Faeries). The book also contains an exclusive peek into Jim Henson's creative process with his detailed notes on an early draft of the adaptation.

Editor-In-Chief Matt Gagnon explains how BOOM! Studios will instill Henson's legacy to a newer generation, "There's an entire generation of Jim Henson fans who never had the opportunity to enrich their enjoyment of classics like Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal with the prose novel adaptations." Gagnon continues, "We're honored to be working with The Jim Henson Company and The Jim Henson Archives to give these reprints the Archaia treatment and present them in beautiful new editions."
