Supernatural Season 10 Spoilers: Can Sam and Dean Reconcile?

By Andrew Meola | May 22, 2014 09:21 AM EDT

Much of Season 9 of Supernatural put brothers Sam and Dean Winchester at odds with each other. From the start of the season, Sam was prepared to die, but Dean let an angel take over his body and when Sam found out, let's just say he wasn't too happy.

[WARNING: SEASON 9 FINALE SPOILERS BELOW]

In the Season 9 finale, the brothers were somewhat able to hash things out before Dean went off to try and kill Metatron with the First Blade. Unfortunately, Metatron stabbed Dean right in the chest and he died in Sam's arms. But the very end of the episode revealed Dean's fate, as Crowley brought the First Blade to his body, and Dean opened his now-black, demonic eyes.

The finale offered something of a reconciliation between the two brothers, but could next season continue to repair the damaged relationship, especially given Dean's current status? The "Ask Ausiello" column at TVLine tackles that question.

"Question: Is there any hope for reconciliation between Supernatural's Sam and Dean, and a stronger brotherhood in Season 10?  -Mae
Ausiello: Granted, you sent this in before the landscape-changing events of the season finale. But when we ran your Q by Jared Padaelcki at Upfronts, he emphatically answered: 'I hope so. I hope so. You see in the finale a lot of what makes Sam and Dean 'Sam and Dean.' There's a lot of that brotherly love that the show is based on. So hopefully next season we bounce off of that.' (Once someone gets their eyes looked at, of course.)"
