'Doctor Who' season 8, 2014 episodes [SPOILERS]: Series writer Mark Gatiss says 'Peter Capaldi has madness in his eyes'
Earlier this week at the Arqiva BAFTA Television Awards 2014, Doctor Who writer and actor Mark Gatiss shared a little more insight into what we can expect from our new Doctor, Peter Capaldi. The Game of Thrones star revealed that Capaldi has "a sort of Alastair Sim quality," and went on to compliment our twelfth Doctor.
He's a wonderful man and one of our best character actors," the acclaimed writer said. "I knew immediately - from watching other things - there was going to be a certain level of twinkly Scottish intensity to him."
"There's madness in his eyes!" Gatiss said, which is sure to excite Whovians worldwide. "He's just an amazing dramatic actor and a very funny actor - which is exactly what you want for the Doctor."
According to some rumors, Gatiss is apparently writing two episodes for season 8 with guest stars Tom Riley and Ben Miller appearing alongside Capaldi. When asked if he adapted Robin Hood for the show, he stated: "The pictures are all over the internet if you want to look!"
Meanwhile, English comedian Frank Skinner was revealed as one of the upcoming season eight guest stars to appear opposite Capaldi in his debut episodes as the Doctor. On a recent episode on his radio show, he talked about his desire to act in the series and how he's even missing his son's birthday in order to fulfill this dream!
"I thought about being in Doctor Who about every four and a half minutes, years before this happened, so oh man, however I'm afraid I've gone deep into bad dad territory," he told his listeners. "Because in order to be in Doctor Who, one of the filming days is [my son] Buzz's birthday. So I'm having to miss it."
