A new showrunner will be writing and prepping Marvel's inaugural series into production. Known for his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Spartacus, critically acclaimed writer/director Steven S. DeKnight now joins Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix.

Marvel has announced DeKnight will be joining the Daredevil series as executive producer and showrunner. Netflix will premiere the 13 episodes all at once for binge-watchers everywhere in 2015. Marvel had been looking for an experienced showrunner to spearhead their superhero series since their original choice had to drop out.

Cabin in the Woods writer/director Drew Goddard has already written the first two episodes for the man without fear. Goddard will continue to stay on board as executive producer but not as the original showrunner.

According to Deadline, Goddard had to step down because he was given a big feature film assignment.  The Cloverfield screenwriter will penn and direct The Sinister Six, the spin-off flick to The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In a daunting task, the Lost scribe has to put together six of Spider-Man's most hated enemies all into one big action-packed summer blockbuster.

As reported here, Marvel Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada  hopes the TV show  will have a "street-level, noir" look and feel to it. In the comics, Daredevil protects Hell's Kitchen by night and Matt Murdock serves during the day as a blind lawyer. The series has to be a gritty courtroom drama without even stepping into a courtroom.

Steven S. DeKnight will be replacing Drew Goddard as showrunner for Marvel's Daredevil series on Netflix. With Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Spartacus on his reel, the man without fear TV series looks to be very promising.
