Monday Night Raw Preview 5/26/14: Will Daniel Bryan Surrender The WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Payback Go-Home Show?
The May 26, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw will emanate live from the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee and will serve as the go-home show for the Payback pay-per-view on Sunday. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan is scheduled to appear to surrender the title.
Stephanie McMahon demanded last week on Raw that Bryan appear on the show tonight to relinquish the championship. The fan favorite had neck surgery two weeks ago and did not make the trip across the pond to London for Raw last week, so Stephanie bought some time and merely said "Bryan must give up the title."
It appears that there are no plans for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Payback, so tonight should (hopefully) provide some closure on the murky title situation. But will Bryan actually surrender the belts, or will he do what he has done for the better part of the last year and fight the Authority? It depends on Bryan's expected timetable to return, as WWE likely wants to have a champion in place if Bryan will be out until SummerSlam time.
The Shield vs. Evolution war continues, and the formula has been the same for the past several weeks. One side ambushes the other and one side stands tall at the end, or two individual members face off in a match that devolves into a six-man brawl and one side stands tall at the end. We will likely get more of the same tonight, but the group that emerges victorious from the latest skirmish could indicate which team will win the battle at Payback.
Bray Wyatt and John Cena continue to go back and forth, and the two are set to clash in the rubber match of their feud on Sunday in a Last Man Standing match. Wyatt got the upper hand last week after Cena beat Luke Harper by disqualification. He hit Cena with Sister Abigail and the Wyatts then assaulted him all the way up the ramp. Bray hit him with another Sister Abigail on the stage an Harper counted to 10 to possibly foreshadow what will happen on Sunday.
Who will gain the advantage on the final Raw before Payback? Will Cena (and his new running buddies, the Usos) be able to return fire, or will the Wyatt Family maintain its momentum?
As always, check back with MStars after the show for a full recap of all the action. But for now, let us know what you think will happen on tonight's edition of Raw in the comments below.
