'True Detective' Season 2 Casting Rumors: Creator Nic Pizzolatto reveals first details about upcoming episodes, denying Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain gossip
If you were excited about the True Detective casting rumors claiming Jessica Chastain had been offered a lead role in the HBO crime drama, you might be a bit disappointed this week. According to series creator Nic Pizzolatto, no casting has taken place but there will be three leads instead of two. Though this news is maybe disheartening for Chastain fans, the creator did offer new information on the upcoming 2015 episodes in a new interview.
"Right now, we're working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser known venues of California and we're going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did with season one," Pizzolatto revealed while appearing on the To the Best Of Our Knowledge Podcast.
An interesting point is that the show has moved from two leads to three, opening up the casting rumors a little bit. Expect that flood gate to burst open within the next weeks.
He continued: "The characters are all new, but I am deeply in love with all of them. We have the entire season broken out, and I have a couple of scripts, and we'll probably start casting within the coming month."
What we mainly take away from this quote is that casting has yet to start, therefore the Chastain rumors are clearly false. She might not exactly take her out of the running for the role, but she definitely doesn't have it yet.
As for the Brad Pitt rumors, the same goes for him.
