George Clooney, Amal Alamuddin Set Marriage Location: Downton Abbey! Celebrity Wedding Taking Place at Highclere Castle
So far the updates for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's Fall wedding have been coming in slowly, with a country and date set earlier this month. Now we know that the London ceremony is taking place on September 12 will be held where Downton Abbey is filmed! How did the star and his attorney fiancée land this iconic castle for their wedding?
"George became close friends with Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Robert Crawley, when they did Monuments Men together last year," a source revealed, according to The Daily Mail. "And they really hit it off. He contacted Hugh and asked him to arrange a private tour of the castle. Amal was blown away. When he saw his bride-to-be's reaction to the spectacular Victorian castle, set on 1,000 acres of parkland, he began making some discrete inquires about having their wedding performed there. And he was told they would be most happy to accommodate them!"
Known as the Highclere Castle, the location of this wedding and the PBS series is home to Carnarvon family since 1679. It is open for weddings, so this isn't too surprising, but the

"And the same way Kanye West and Kim's wedding guests were given a private tour of The Palace of Versailles, a private tour of not only the castle and grounds, but of the famous Egyptian Antique Exhibition in the Castle cellars could be arranged."
