Take a look; it's in a book, a Reading Rainbow!!!

Host of Reading Rainbow, LeVar Burton challenged Internet users of Kickstarter to raise $1 million dollars to bring the hit series to a whole new generation of kids. Within just half a day Burton had reached the million-dollar campaign goal.

Get nostalgic and watch the opening credits for the TV series below.

23,000 people contributed to the campaign to bring the show back in a whole new way. The original series, which ran on PBS from 1983-2006, will now use the money to build a web series. The money will also go to creating a classroom version of the cult classic show.

The classroom version will be available for teachers and students to access both in classrooms and at home, but will also be provide to schools in need at no charge.

This Kickstarer campaign, like many other also included some pretty awesome reward incentives for donators including, app subscriptions, books, and autographs. For some of the heavy spenders out there, their donations got them the chance to actually have dinner with Burton, and a chance to try on Burton's signature Star Trek visor.

The host of the series joins the select few campaigns that have reached the million-dollar goal within hours of being posted. Kristen Bell got a million dollars, half of her funding need for a Veronica Mars movie, within five hours, where as video game, Torment, reached the mark within seven hours.

The complete funding for Reading Rainbow was open until July 2, but clearly it surpassed expectations.
