When it was officially announced that Charlie Cox was playing the read role in Marvel's Daredevil, it was really a quite rumble; not like Josh Brolin being announced to play Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy. Here are five reasons why you should be excited that Cox will be playing the man without fear in the upcoming Netflix series.

1) Boardwalk Empire

On the HBO show, Cox played Owen Sleater, the right-hand man of Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (Steve Buscemi).  Owen was also having an affair with Nucky's wife, Margaret (Kelly Macdonald). Poor guy was shot in the head and then stuff in a box; as a warning To Nucky about an upcoming gang war.

2) He's Practically An Unknown

Of the HBO shows, Boardwalk Empire isn't water-cooler talk like Game of Thrones or The Sopranos. Though Cox was on the hit cable TV show, it's not like the series is on a prime time network. The English actor doesn't come with baggage like Ben Affleck in the role of Batman.

3) He's Not Ben Affleck

Cox isn't a household name like Affleck, who was in the midst of paparazzi fame when the live-action film came about. He's an up-and-coming star who just got the role of a lifetime. This unknown actor is hungry for recognition and wants everyone to see his acting chops.

4) You Can't Screw Up Daredevil Twice

Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight is known for being pretty edgy, especially with his Spartacus series. This guy knows how to write snappy banter and direct action scenes, ever since he started working on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. With DeKnight directing, I'm pretty sure Cox will do wonders as the man without fear.

5) Downtown Abbey

Cox played the Duke of Crowborough, who was supposed to be a potential suitor for Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery). However, the Duke was actually a closeted gay man. That's right! Our new Daredevil isn't afraid to be provocative and won't be watered down in silliness like the movie was.

Here are five reasons why you should be excited about Charlie Cox playing Marvel's Daredevil. Hopefully this will be enough for you readers to be binge-watching on Netflix.
