Five Reasons To Be Excited About John Wesley Shipp Being Cast In ‘The Flash’ Series With Grant Gustin!

John Wesley Shipp and Grant Gustin will be playing the roles of father and son in The Flash series on the CW network. For the first time ever, audiences will see two generations of the superhero runner on screen together.

As reported here, Shipp has been cast in the upcoming show, The Flash. Here are five reasons why comic books fans should be excited to see the Dawson's Creek's actor playing the role of Henry Allen on the Arrow spinoff.

1) Shipp Was The Original Flash

Back when there was no CGI, comic book TV shows had to rely less on special effects and more on character. Shipp took on the lead role in the '90s short-lived TV series. Bringing him back is a nice tribute to the comic books who fondly remember the show. Those who remember will obviously come back to see him again in the pilot.

2) Henry Allen

In the DC Universe, Henry is an old-school detective, who inspires his son to join the police force. Barry, as the speedster, has to save his father from his dangerous super villains. In Rebirth, the Reverse Flash travels back in time to murder Henry's wife and frame him for the murder. It looks like the pilot maybe hinting at this storyline.

3) The Flash Meets The Flash

I cannot wait to see Shipp and Gustin in the same scene together. Shipps played his role straight from comics, with Barry is in his 30s and already understanding the sacrifices of what it means to be a hero. In this Arrow spinoff, the central character is younger and learning the ropes, while providing some hilarious comic relief.

4) If Shipp Is Back, Does That Mean Mark Hamill Will Return Too?

If you saw the original Flash TV series, the best episodes were probably with Mark Hamill. Before he was the voice of the Joker on the Batman: The Animated Series, Hamill memorably played the scene-stealing villain, the Trickster.  It would be so awesome if CW Network brought back Hamill as well into the fold.

5) This Is A Great Way To Build Suspense

The superhero leads a life of tragic misunderstandings, betrayal, and heavy losses. In the original incarnation, Henry Allen died of old age, normal circumstances. I don't really think that's going to happen on the CW Show, especially after the way Arrow killed off Ollie's best friend in the first season finale.

Here are five reasons why you should be excited about seeing John Wesley Shipp on The Flash. Readers, tell me what you are most excited about seeing Shipps on the CW show.
