Legendary Golfer Phil Mickelson Under FBI Investigation
Hall of Fame golder Phil Mickelson has revealed that he is under an FBI investigation for insider trading. The five-time major champion is convinced he has done "nothing wrong", but he's still being investigated, which has led to all kinds of debates.
The FBI are analyzing trades he and Las Vegas gambler Billy Walters made. The reports of this ordeal have been almost everywhere, including major outlets such as the Wall Street Journal. Mickelson has been actively helping the FBI agents, and talking to the media about his lack of any involvement.
With the U.S. Open approaching, it could be a problem for the star golfer, but he insists it won't be. He explained "It's not going to change the way I carry myself. Honestly, I've done nothing wrong. I'm not going to walk around any other way."
In a statement he released this weekend he said :
"I can't really go into much right now, but as I said in my statement, I have done absolutely nothing wrong," Mickelson said. "And that's why I've been fully cooperating with the FBI agents, and I'm happy to do in the future, too, until this gets resolved."
What's next for Mickelson, and can he be a major force at the U.S. Open, or will this all be too much for him? He seems extremely confident, and often misunderstandings occur, but the FBI obviously have something concerning them, otherwise this whole situation wouldn't of hit the public in this explosive manner. Stay tuned to find out more on the ongoing situation.
