The 2014 edition of WWE's Payback emanates live from the Allstate Arena in Chicago and begins with United States Champion Sheamus defending his title against Cesaro. Paul Heyman comes out and starts to speak, but the crowd chants for CM Punk. Heyman says he is not here tonight because he's at the United Center watching the Chicago Blackhawks lose to the Los Angeles Kings. He then talks about Brock Lesnar and introduces Cesaro.

Cesaro puts Sheamus in the Swing and goes for a Neutralizer, but Sheamus counters with a small package to retain his title.

Rybaxel defeats the Rhodes Brothers when Cody tries a Disaster Kick on Ryback, who catches him for the Shellshock. Goldust tries to comfort his brother after the match but Cody grabs a mic and tells his brother that Goldust deserves a better tag team partner and he leaves.

Rusev (w/Lana) defeats Big E. with the Accolade. He won't break the hold, so Lana comes in and gets him to release it. In a nice touch, they announced Rusev's weight in kilos instead of pounds.

Bo Dallas vs. Kofi Kingston never gets off the ground. Bo says the Blackhawks will lose tonight, but the crowd does not have to be losers if they just Bo-lieve. Kane comes out before the match starts. Bo and Kofi prepare to fight him off but Bo gets out of dodge and Kofi attacks Kane, who demolishes the highflyer and Tombstones him. Bo Dallas gets on the mic and says Kofi can come back better than ever if he Bo-lieves. This all happened apparently because Kofi tweeted his support of Daniel Bryan against the Authority.

Bad News Barrett retains his Intercontinental Championship against Rob Van Dam when he connects with the Bull Hammer.

Stephanie McMahon comes out for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship segment. Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella come out shortly thereafter and Bryan refuses to surrender the belts. He tries to convince Stephanie to change her ways and says he hopes her children are watching to see what a narcissistic woman she has become. He can't find the right word, so Brie chimes in with "bitch."

Stephanie has had enough and it looks like Bryan is about to surrender the belts, but Brie stops him. She says she refuses to be a powerless victim and pulls the classic "you can't fire me, I quit!" routine. Stephanie laughs, so Brie slaps her. An embarrassed Stephanie runs to the back.

After some superb action involving both the Wyatt Family and the Usos, John Cena is the Last Man Standing over Bray Wyatt when he connects with an Attitude Adjustment through a giant box near the stage. He pushes another one on top of Bray, who stays down for the 10 count.

Paige retains her Divas Championship against Alicia Fox with the Scorpion Crosslock, or PTO. The fans chant "you tapped out" to Alicia, who struggles to stay cool. She yells at the fans to shut up and flails to the back.

The Shield defeats Evolution in a clean 3-0 sweep in the main event. The action is fast and furious and spills outside the ring on multiple occasions. Roman Reigns spears Batista and Seth Rollins covers him for the first elimination. Shortly thereafter, Dean Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds (his headlock driver) on Randy Orton on a chair to eliminate him. Triple H tries to fight back with a sledgehammer but Rollins comes in with a flying knee to the head and Reigns spears him for the pin. The Shield poses over Triple H as the show goes off the air.
