Peterborough United Complete Signing of Shrewsbury Starlet Jon Taylor
Peterborough United are coached by Darren Ferguson, the son of legendary ex-Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, so it's no surprise they know how to recover from setbacks in style. The club failed to gain promotion via the playoffs only a few weeks ago, but today they've moved a step towards repairing the damage that was done. The club beat out a host of League One rivals to complete the signing of Shrewsbury star Jon Taylor.
The 21-year-old can play in a variety of different positions, and can both score and create scoring chances for his fellow players. In nearly 150 appearances for his former club he scored 21 times. Now he will join highly rated Britt Assombalonga, in which Posh hope they have a deadly duo that can frighten any League One defense.
Posh have spent some of their recent history one tier below the English Premier League, in the Championship, so a signing of this magnitude indicates their clear intent to return to that level as soon as possible. Taylor himself seems very happy, and told the club's website "I am really pleased to be a Posh player and cannot wait to get started. I met the manager face to face and he had clearly done a lot of research and made me feel very wanted. I feel I can learn at this football club and develop and that is what I am looking for."
Many Peterborough players have left the club to become Premier League regulars, and Taylor will be hoping to do the same, following in the footsteps of Dwight Gayle (Crystal Palace).
