"Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam was originally cast as kinky Christian Grey in EL James' erotic film adoptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." So, why did the 34-year-old Hollywood heartthrob ultimately reject the role (which was later handed-down to Jamie Dornan)?

Because he didn't want to turn out like Robert Pattinson, apparently!

The 28-year-old British actor is best known for playing Kristen Stewart's sexy love interest in the hit vampire franchise, "Twilight." And Hunnam refused to be typecast like that.

The "Pacific Rim" hottie didn't want to risk his reputation for an epic onscreen "showmance" with Anastasia Steele. Rumors initially suggested that he would play 24-year-old Dakota Johnson's kinky suitor throughout the film series.

Bascially, he wanted nothing to do with the whole "Robsten" craze.

Hunnam initially exited the film due to "family issues and scheduling conflicts." But in reality, rumors imply that he just wasn't very interested.

In a recent interview with People magazine, an alleged insider explains, "He dropped out of the project because he didn't want to be typecast... He didn't want the Robert Pattinson-esque attention that would come along with taking on this role."

Hunnam would rather be known for his pure talent - not for his "hunky" looks.

And apparently R-Patz even agrees! From the sounds of it, Pattinson doesn't consider playing Edward Cullen one of his "greatest achievements."

Well, do "Twilighters" agree? How about "Fifty Shades" fans - disappointed with Hunnam's views on Christian Grey?
