Revenge Adds James Tupper as Series Regular in Season 4

The Season 3 finale of Revenge featured the return of David Clarke (James Tupper) live in the flesh as he stabbed Conrad Grayson and revealed to the audience that he was still alive and presumably waiting in the wings for Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) to clear his name.

Fans of ABC's Sunday night soap should get used to seeing the actor, as TVLine reports exclusively that Revenge has added Tupper as a series regular for Season 4. The actor has appeared sporadically throughout the first three seasons of the show through flashbacks, but his appearance at the end of Season 3 means he could soon reunite with Emily and Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) on screen.

Showrunner Sunil Nayar explained TVLine the rationale behind bringing back David and the consequences it could have for the future of the show:

"Victoria and Emily are both going to have to reckon with what they've done in his name over the last 20 years, and then they'll have to reckon with, "Well, who is this man? It's fun because, for the first time, the audience knows something that none of the people on the show do. The audience knows what he did to Conrad, they know what a raw act of vengeance it was. So the David that's eventually going to come back to town isn't going to be the David that the people in the Hamptons know, but the viewers have seen him and know what he's capable of. That's a fun dynamic we've never gotten to play with before."
