Arsenal And Belgium Star Thomas Vermaelen Agrees To Deal To Join Robin Van Persie At Manchester United

Just weeks after lifting the FA Cup trophy as club captain of Arsenal football club, Thomas Vermaelen looks set to leave the club for Manchester United. Many Arsenal players have left for bigger Premier League clubs, most notably Robin Van Persie who left the Gunners to join United. Recently, Arsenal's other star defender Bacary Sagna agreed to a deal to join Manchester City. Can Arsenal recover from such a set back, and does any of there players have a boundary that would stop them from leaving for an EPL rival?

The Belgium international is currently at the 2014 World Cup, and he has a one-year contract in place, which has left Arsenal looking to cash in. Luckily for Thomas, United are need of new defenders, and ones that will provide both experience and an excellent fit in to Louis Van Gaal's structure and style of play, which he does both.

A deal has been struck between the club and player, but now the two clubs must agree a fee if he is to leave the Emirates for Old Trafford this summer. The 28-year-old veteran will provide United with a like-for-like replacement for Nemanja Vidic, who recently left to join Inter Milan. Despite an excellent start to his EPL career, he has suffered from a lack of form in recent years, but could a move to United help him rediscover his form of old?

Is this a good move for Manchester United, and will Arsenal live to regret selling yet another player to yet another rival?
