WWE Rumors: Who Will Win WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank? [POLL]

By Andrew Meola | Jun 26, 2014 10:27 AM EDT

For the first time, the WWE's top prize will be up for grabs in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match when eight men compete for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on Sunday. But which of the eight Superstars will grab the belts and emerge victorious?

It's always impossible to know with absolute certainty in the WWE, but we can always make educated guesses about the outcomes of these matches. So let's have some fun with it and go through the eight men in the match. Be sure to vote in our poll at the bottom of the page and let us know who you think will hold the belts at the end of the night. Up first...

John Cena (Chances: Extremely high): LOLCENAWINS. Just kidding, although that running Internet joke could prove true on Sunday. Daniel Bryan, by all accounts, was supposed to face Brock Lesnar in the main event of SummerSlam for the title. But Bryan's neck injury and consequent surgery forced WWE to scrap that plan and move on to the next option.

Enter John Cena, fresh off his feud with Bray Wyatt. WWE needs a high-profile matchup for its second-biggest pay-per-view of the year, so who better to fill the role than Cena? He and Lesnar put on a pretty brutal match at Extreme Rules in 2012 when Lesnar returned to the company, and Cena prevailed after Lesnar beat him down for most of the contest. Logic would dictate that Lesnar beats whomever he faces at SummerSlam after he broke the Undertaker's WrestleMania streak, so maybe he avenges that loss to Cena.

Plus, Amazon released this promotional poster for SummerSlam on Wednesday. Unless WWE thinks Cena and Lesnar are both extremely handsome men, this would indicate a match between the two. If I were Scott Steiner, I would say Cena has 141 2/3 chance of winning at Money in the Bank.

Roman Reigns (Chances: Very high): Reigns is clearly the next golden boy of the WWE, and the company is grooming him to be at the top of the card for years to come. He has the look and the charisma, and now he is on his own after The Shield's breakup. WWE could easily crown him on Sunday and few would complain, but as odd as it sounds, they might not do it just yet because MITB isn't a big enough deal.

If Reigns is going to be the next face of the company, then WWE would likely want his first title win to be something truly memorable (WrestleMania 31 maybe?). Then again, Reigns is awesome and the company clearly loves him, so it wouldn't be a shock at all if he hoists the belts on Sunday.

Bray Wyatt (Chances: High): The cryptic and twisted leader of The Wyatt Family has been through a war with John Cena in the last several months, and now he has set his sights on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to help further spread his message. Bray is far and away the most interesting character in this match, and both his in-ring ability and mic work are excellent at just 26 years old. If the WWE wanted to elevate its young star, it could put the belts on Bray and send him to SummerSlam. But Wyatt vs. Lesnar seems like an odd pairing for the event, especially because both men are supposed to be heels even though Bray gets cheers. Wyatt's time is coming, but it may not be here just yet.

Cesaro (Chances: High): Cesaro is an interesting case because he and Lesnar have one thing in common: Paul Heyman. Heyman has been managing Cesaro ever since the night after WrestleMania 30, but he has spent much of that time bragging about Lesnar's victory over the Undertaker. Rumors have swirled for months that Cesaro could turn on Heyman (and thus, turn face) and have a match with Lesnar. It's possible that could happen at SummerSlam.

Randy Orton (Chances: Average): Orton never got his rematch after Daniel Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 30. In fact, he didn't even pin or submit, as Bryan made Batista tap out to the Yes! Lock. So it's possible WWE could go to the well again and put the belts on Orton, but it seems somewhat unlikely given his recent lengthy title reign. The only reason we can't completely rule him out is because he's Randy Orton.

Sheamus: (Chances: Low): Sheamus is the United States Champion and has had a run at the top, but it's doubtful he'll walk away with the belts on Sunday. The other stars in this match simply outshine him, and a win for him would seem almost completely out of left field. It feels like Sheamus hasn't lost a match since 2009, but he's not winning this one, fella.

Kane (Chances: No Chance in Hell): THEDEMONKANE is not winning this match. He is a frightening and athletic individual and it's impressive that he is still performing at such a high level at almost 50 years old. But we're well past the point where it would be believable Kane can win anything of import. Triple H added him to this match earlier this week, and we get the sense it's because WWE had nothing else for him to do on Sunday.

Alberto Del Rio (Chances: Hahahahahahaha): Hahahahaha. Sorry, I need to laugh a bit more. It's absolutely hilarious that Del Rio is even in this match. He was the only one who qualified when WWE was still waffling on whether this would be a title match or a match for the Money in the Bank briefcase. Then, Bryan's recovery slowed and the company pulled the trigger. Unfortunately, Del Rio was already locked into the fight, so they were stuck.

Look, I actually really like Alberto Del Rio. He's underappreciated in that he excels at all the little things in the ring: the timing, the fluidity, the facial expressions. But the man has about as much charisma and mic talent as a sponge, and his numerous face and heel turns never worked. If he wins this match, then I'll consider it the biggest surprise in the last 10 years.
