Josh Trank's Fantastic Four Reboot Movie Could Have Found Footage Feel
Director Josh Trank had success with his found footage movie Chronicle about three teenagers who develop superpowers. Now he will move on to larger and more established superheroes with the Fantastic Four reboot in 2015. And according to a higher-up at Fox, the movie could have a similar feel to Trank's previous work.
For President of Productions Emma Watts spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and told fans some of what they can expect from Trank and the movie:
"We're making a big bet for 2015 with The Fantastic Four and director Josh Trank. To me, the key is the originality of the filmmakers and the choices they make. Josh is another really interesting example, who is using the vision he gave us in Chronicle to reinvent a franchise he's loved his whole life. It's not that you can't make original ideas -- you can, and we did it with Chronicle. The director is the key to not letting superhero movies go stale. That's the truth."
She also addressed whether or not the movie would have that found footage vibe to it:
"It's Josh, so it can't not have that feel. That's his talent, that's what he does, and that's what excites him about it. It is a really interesting young cast, and he is the magnet that's brought them all together."
It's not entirely clear if this means the entire movie would be shot in a found footage style or if it would just have some elements incorporated throughout the movie; however, a found footage superhero movie with established characters would certainly make Fantastic Four stand out from the rest of the pack.
Watts also addresses the Bryan Singer sexual abuse allegations and the possibility of his return for X-Men: Apocalypse, so check out the rest of the interview here.
