Elizabeth Fechtel, Miss Florida, Stripped Of Crown! Joins Amanda Longacre In Beauty Pageant Controversy

Though unrelated, there were two controversial screw-cups from the Miss America organization. Just like Amanda Longacre, Elizabeth Fetchel will be stripped of her Miss Florida crown, but this time, due to a counting errors mix-up.

At first, the beauty pageant named the blonde stunner as its official winner. The University of Florida student celebrated the tremendous victory, at least for five days. All the glory that the 20-year-old contestant recieved has been sadly taken away, due to someone losing count.

During the routine recount, one of the judge's ballot was accidentally overlooked. Because someone missed a mark, the ballots had to be tabulated again by an independent auditor. With the correct results at hand, it actually turns out runner-up, Victoria Cowen, is the real winner.

Not only will the former Miss Florida lose her title to Crowen, she will also have to relinquish the scholarship money she had received. As reported here, Longacre will keep the scholarship money, even though she is too old at 25 to be Miss Delaware.

Fetchel went straight to her website, to detail about her unfortunate loss and upcoming future. Though these days must be truly tough for her, the pageant still holds her head up high.

The former Miss Florida writes, "Though I am devastated to relinquish the job, I am a firm believer that God has a plan and a purpose. Victoria Cowen will be a great titleholder and I hope you will all show her the recognition she deserves."

It's such a shame that these two pageant contestants have to face such a public humiliation. Let's hope this isn't the last time we hear of Longacre and Fetchel.

Elizabeth Fetchel will be stripped of her Miss Florida crown, due to a scoring error. Readers, what do you think of this latest screw-up from the Miss America Organization?
