'Designing Women' Co-Star Meshach Taylor Dies At 67 After Battling Cancer

MStars News has just learned that Emmy-nominated actor Meshach Taylor died Saturday night at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer.

Taylor was best known for his role in the hit 80s sitcom Designing Women. Taylor also starred in hit T.V. shows including, Hannah Montana, The Drew Carey Show and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.

The actor was best known for making fans of Designing Women laugh as he portrayed the character of Anthony Bouvier, the assistant to the four women in the show. Taylor would receive a nomination in 1989 for an Emmy award.

USA Today reports that the Designing Women star was in hospice care at his family's home in Altadena. The 67-year-old was surrounded by his wife, children and mother when he died at 10:47 p.m., Taylor's son Tariq Taylor and agent Dede Binder revealed.

"It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic, Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend has begun his grand transition. Our friends who know and love us, please offer your prayers for his peace and blazing light as he ascends to the heavens. Those who need to call the family please do. Those who desire to post memories, we are open and graciously accepting all gestures of peace. Love, the Taylor Family Tariq Taylor, Yasmine Taylor, Tamar Lashae Taylor, Esme Taylor," the family wrote via Facebook on June 27.
