Monday Night Raw Preview 6/30/14: Money in the Bank Fallout with New WWE World Heavyweight Champion
The June 30, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw will emanate live from the XL Center in Hartford, CT and will feature all the fallout from the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on Sunday night.
First and foremost, John Cena is once again at the top of the mountain, as he is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. This was the obvious and safest way for WWE to go with this story, as it now sets up a main event between Cena and Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in August. All the rumors and promotional material pointed in this direction, so it's hardly surprising that Cena hoisted the belts at the end of the show on Sunday.
But before we get to SummerSlam, we have the Battleground pay-per-view in July. Who will be Cena's first challenger for the title at the next event? Will this contender show himself tonight? It's unlikely we'll see Lesnar return tonight, as WWE would probably save him until the true buildup to SummerSlam. But Cena will likely have to face somebody at Battleground, so we should get an identity for his opponent tonight.
And let's not forget that Seth Rollins is now lurking in the shadows with the Money in the Bank briefcase, which means he can challenge for the championship anytime he wants. Dean Ambrose, though, is still stalking his former partner and would likely try to interrupt Rollins' cash-in should he use it. Rumors hold that Ambrose and Rollins will square off at Battleground, so we could see the first seeds of that match planted tonight. Could the briefcase be on the line?
Elsewhere on the show, Paige defeated Naomi to retain the Divas Championship, so who will be the next woman to step up and try to dethrone the 21-year-old champion?
The Usos also retained their Tag Team Championships against The Wyatt Family. None of the Wyatts earned gold on Sunday night, so what's next for Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan after this setback?
What will Roman Reigns do now that he did not capture the title on Sunday? Rumors for him say he will face Randy Orton at Battleground and then Triple H at SummerSlam, so WWE could start to build that story tonight.
As always, check back with MStars immediately after the show for a full recap of all the action. But for now, let us know what you expect from tonight's broadcast in the comments below.
