Neil Patrick Harris' Husband David Burtka Afraid Of Cheating Scandal - Gives The 'Hedwig & The Angry Inch' Star A 6-Month Maximum On Broadway So He Won't Have An Affair
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have made some decisions regarding Harris's role as the lead in the Broadway musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The couple has decided that Neil would only be spending six months in New York at maximum for his role in the play.
An insider reveals that the decision to limit his time in New York was made because men often tend to flirt with Harris, something that made Burtka wary.
"Neil and David came to an agreement that he would let Neil do Hedwig on Broadway for six months, including the rehearsals and previews," a source reveals to RadarOnline.
After the initial run, the Broadway star will leave New York to return to Los Angeles to help David raise their two children.
"David was adamant that he not extend, partly because moving to New York for longer than the summer would have been too disruptive for the kids," the insider tells Radar.
The decision came down to more than just parenting; according to the celebrity gossip site, Burtka was jealous that Harris might end up cheating on him.
"David also didn't trust leaving Neil in New York to do the show while he and the kids went back to L.A., because he knows that other guys are always very flirtatious with Neil in L.A., and he didn't want to risk it in New York."
"At least in L.A. David is always around to make sure it never goes any further," the site reports. "And not to say certain guys haven't become 'friendly' with David in New York too, but without each other around, it's hard to resist other guys hitting on them."
Harris is stepping down for the role of Hedwig in August, when he will be succeeded by Girls star Andrew Rannells.
The How I Met Your Mother star, who just won a Tony for his performance, may have wanted to extend his run playing the gender-bending rock star, but the insider reveals that David put his foot down.
"David fully supports Neil, but doesn't want to be walked all over."
