Monday Night Raw Preview 7/7/14: Chris Jericho vs The Miz and Possible Bret Hart, Ric Flair Returns
The July 7, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw will emanate live from the Bell Centre in Montreal at 8 p.m. Eastern as the company continues to build toward the Battleground pay-per-view on Sunday, July 20.
Last week, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon buttered up John Cena with the WWE 2K15 video game cover and some kind words, but it was of course a ruse, as Kane demolished the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Seth Rollins nearly cashed in his Money in the Bank contract while Cena was down in the ring. Dean Ambrose was waiting in the wings, though, and attacked his former friend to stop him from succeeding.
Ambrose has promised to lurk around every corner and pounce on Rollins every time he tries to cash in that briefcase. Will this happen again tonight? Will Rollins try to capture the gold only for Ambrose to thwart him again?
We also know Cena will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Battleground in a Fatal Four Way match against Roman Reigns, Randy Orton and Kane. Those four men faced off in tag team action last week, but will they scuffle again tonight prior to the title match in less than two weeks?
Rumors also maintain that Bret Hart could return to WWE television tonight in his home country and the site of the infamous Montreal Screwjob. It's unclear what exactly The Hitman would be doing during the show, but a Canadian Raw means Bret could appear.
There have also been reports circulating that Ric Flair could also return as early as tonight. He has been advertised for the WWE Live Event at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, so some have speculated he could come back tonight. Here's hoping for a Flair and Hart segment.
Battleground will also feature a Battle Royal to determine the new Intercontinental Champion now that Bad News Barrett is out after shoulder surgery. The confirmed participants so far are Alberto Del Rio, Big E, Bo Dallas, Cesaro, Curtis Axel, Damien Sandow, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Rob Van Dam, Ryback and The Great Khali. Will any new participants enter the fray tonight?
Finally, Chris Jericho will face The Miz tonight after he hit him with the Codebreaker on both Raw and Smackdown last week. Could this lead to a match between the two at Battleground? Will Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family get involved to set up a match at SummerSlam?
As always, check back with MStars immediately after the show for a full recap of all the action. But for now, let us know your expectations for tonight's Raw in the comments below.
