It looks like Axelle Despiegelaere's 15 minutes of fame are up. After being plucked from obscurity during the World Cup, the viral sensation lost her modelling contract with L'Oreal, after some controversial hunting trip photos have resurfaced.
As reported here, internet stardom came during the World Cup match, when cameras scooped up the 17 year old model in her Red Devils outfit. Even the cosmetics company wanted to know who the stunning face that was capturing men's hearts. A fan site was also hot on her trail, reposting every snapshot of hers.
After landing a major modelling contract, everything seemed perfect for the young model. But soon, everybody learns what goes up, must come down. The Belgium fan lost her contract because a controversial photo has come back to haunt her.
In the insensitive photo, the 16-year-old is sitting by what seems to be a dead gazelle. The Belgium native is holding her rifle by her shoulder, smiling at the lens. Like any teenager, she posted the pic on her Facebook wall, which has now been deleted.
Despiegelaere wrote in a caption: ""Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It's much more important than that. This was about 1 year ago. Ready to hunt Americans today haha."
With the fans pouring their outrage, the beauty organization severed all ties with the newbie. Though the teenager didn't mean to offensive, the insult hit viewers pretty hard.
Because she is still young, the future still looks bright for the fired model. Let's hope she learns from this mistake and matures from this.
