Tony Bellew And Nathan Cleverly Win Bouts At Liverpool Echo Arena: Pair Nearly Fight One Another After
Some people suggest that rivalries in boxing can seem somewhat staged, however, boxers Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew are showing that's in their case, that's not so. The pair have disliked one another for some time, and after Cleverly beat Bellew, the pair have been tipped to fight again. On Saturday 12 July they each won seperate bouts with fifth round knockouts --before they nearly come to blows at the nights end.
Cleverly won his fight, got changed, and returned to watch his rival. At the end of the fight he shouted abuse and Bellew attempted to run through the ropes and kick/lunge at his opponent. The two then exchanged heated words during Bellew's post-fight interview. Bellew screamed at Cleverly, saying "I ain't a 16 fight novice, I'm an established pro who's fought better pros than you in lesser fights. You were a plastic world champion, we fought for a belt that should never have been a world title. Forget that defeat, I just want to hurt you.'
As Bellew's home-crowd booed, Cleverly replied, "I've already come to his home town once and beaten him and I'll do it again. This time it will be emphatic. I've already beat you and I'll spank you again.' The pair are set to finish 2014 with a fight against one another in one of Britain's major cities. After nearly coming to blows, can the pair last that long?
The world looks set for another classic fight between these world-famous boxers.
