Marc Maron, IFC: Comedian & ‘WTF’ Podcast Host Talks To CBS, ‘Maron’ Nears Season 2 Finale [VIDEO]
With the creation of his 2009 podcast WTF with Marc Maron, it would seem comedian Marc Maron's world has changed forever. The IFC star – who now has his own show on the network aptly titled Maron – recently sat down with CBS This Morning: Saturday to discuss the show and the podcast that literally saved his life.
Fans of Maron's are well aware of the fact that he's been one of the most embittered comedians around for years –– maybe ever. With the creation of WTF with Marc Maron, however, the comic has been able to grow, unleash his insecurities and even make amends with a few people he's wronged over the years.
Maron's career has gone through some ups and serious downs, as he's been outspoken about his bitterness getting the best of him. So, in 2009, when nothing was happening, he opted to start up a podcast from nothing. He told CBS, "When you do something for half your life, there's no more plan B's. There's that moment when you're in your mid-40s and you're like, 'Ah, this isn't working out. I could always...huh. There used to be things in that folder. Nothing?'"
That "nothing" eventually grew into one of the most popular podcasts around. WTF, as it's called, has just surpassed its 500th episode and 100 million downloads. And perhaps the best part –– he does it out of his garage at his home.
"The Garage" has been visited by the likes of Jon Hamm, Bryan Cranston, Conan O'Brien and Louis C.K.
Maron is now in season 2 with the finale coming on July 31. Check out the CBS This Morning: Saturday piece on Maron below:
